This afternoon, a Farmers’ Field Day titled “Zinc Rice 102” was organized under the “Reacts-In” project implemented by HarvestPlus Bangladesh. The program was organized and conducted by ESDO in Madarganj village of Auliapur Union, Sadar Upazila, Thakurgaon district.
The Founder and Executive Director of ESDO, Dr. Muhammad Shahiduzzaman Capiston Fellow NDC Sir, was present as the chief guest at the Farmers’ Field Day, while HarvestPlus Bangladesh Country Manager, Agronomist Md. Wahidul Amin Topu, Program Manager Agronomist Md. Mojibur Rahman, Agronomist Md. Shahinul Kabir and Agronomist Md. Sheikh Shariful Islam were present as special guests.
Moderated by Md. Ashraful Alam, Project Focal Agriculturist of ESDO Reacts-In Project, among more than a hundred farmers, the distinguished speakers discussed in detail the need for zinc in the human body and the role of zinc-rich Bridhan 102, Bridhan 100, Bridhan 84 and Bridhan 74 in meeting zinc deficiency, and urged all those present to expand the cultivation of zinc rice and develop the habit of eating zinc-rich rice. Also present at the event were Uttam Kumar Roy, Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Mocha Jinnatun Nesa, female member of the concerned Union Parishad, Md. Omar Faruk, headmaster of Sikderhat Government High School, Md. Abu Sayeed, seed, fertilizer and pesticide trader of the area, Md. Ashraf Ali, Imam of Board Hat Jame Mosque, and Md. Abu Talha and Md. Mizanur Rahman, project officers of ESDO Reacts-In Project, along with media personalities.
