The Embassy of Switzerland visited the Nari Shakti, Samaz Shakti (NSSS) project in Cox’s Bazar

A delegation from the Embassy of Switzerland led by Ms. Sabine Rosenthaler (Head of Asia Section) and comprising Mr. Diepak Elmer (Head of Cooperation) and Mr. Marc Dietrich (Programme Manager-Nexus), visited the Nari Shakti, Samaz Shakti (NSSS) project in Cox’s Bazar.
During the visit, ESDO showcased a curated collection of “Pinon Hadi” products, handcrafted by indigenous women’s empowerment groups and demonstrated the production processes at the Helvetas office in Cox’s Bazar. The delegation engaged with the displays and observed the diversity, quality and cultural value of the products.
The delegates expressed strong appreciation for the initiative, recognizing its contribution to women’s economic empowerment, preservation of indigenous craftsmanship, and promotion of sustainable livelihoods.

Honorable Finance and Planning Minister Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was the chief guest at the “Stepping Forward: The Inauguration of RAISE-2” event held at PKSF Building-1 in Agargaon, the capital. The event was presided over by PKSF Chairman Mr. Zakir Ahmed Khan. Special guests included the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, Mr. Nazma Mobarak, and the Honorable Guest was Dr. Gail H. Martin, Acting Division Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan at the World Bank. The welcome address was delivered by PKSF’s Managing Director, Mr. Md. Fazlul Kader.
Also present at the event was the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO)-‘s Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Dr. Muhammad Shahid-uz-Zaman Capstone Fellow, NDC, Sir. During the event, he highlighted the importance of the RAISE project, emphasizing its crucial role in skills development, job creation, the promotion of small enterprises, youth employment, and the inclusive development of marginalized communities.

Today, on May 9, 2026, a loan distribution ceremony titled “Revitalization in the Cottage, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (CMSME) Sector” was held at the ESDO’s Talent Practice Center at its head office, implemented by ESDO and funded by the Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF).
The chief guest at the event was Mr. Md. Shahjahan (Former Additional Secretary), Managing Director of the Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF), and the program was presided over by the Honorable Founder and Executive Director of ESDO, Dr. Muhammad Shahid-uz-Zaman.
It is hoped that this initiative will play a significant role in providing financial assistance to small and medium entrepreneurs, creating self-employment, and fostering sustainable economic development.
A prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh will be built through the empowerment of entrepreneurs.

A distinguished delegation from the Muslim Aid UK Bangladesh Field Office visited the ICRDCV Phase III project being implemented by ESDO

Today, a distinguished delegation from the Muslim Aid UK Bangladesh Field Office visited the ICRDCV Phase III project, implemented by the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO), in the Ashashuni Upazila of Satkhira district.
The delegation was led by Md. Akramul Haque (Acting Head of Program). He was accompanied by:
Raymond Gomez (Manager-Finance)
Mottasim Billah (Program Manager-Humanitarian)
Sifat Sharmin Pola (Monitoring Officer)
S M Monwar Hossain (Project Coordinator-Humanitarian)
Key activities of the visit:

  • Sodkana Water Purification Plant
  • Wash facility renovation at Ashashuni Market
  • Manikkhali Village Water Purification Plant
  • Visit to beneficiary households (rainwater harvesting, household toilets, poultry support)
  • Repair of rural roads under the Cash for Work program.

The overall progress and information of the project were presented by Program Manager Md. Shamsul Haque Mridha, ESDO. The project’s program officer, WASH engineer, and other relevant officials were present.
This project is making a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for the local community by ensuring safe water, hygienic sanitation, and sustainable livelihoods.

🌱 Planning Meeting on “25 Crore Tree Plantation Plan of Action” 🌱

On Monday, 4 May 2026, a high-level Planning Meeting on the “25 Crore Tree Plantation Plan of Action” was held at Bana Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka—organized by Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Bangladesh.

This landmark initiative represents a major step toward building a greener, climate-resilient Bangladesh 🌏 through large-scale afforestation and sustainable environmental actions.

The meeting was graced by the Honourable State Minister Mr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, MP, as Chief Guest, alongside Mr. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Distinguished representatives from government agencies, NGOs, INGOs, social organizations, private institutions, and environmental activists also participated—demonstrating a unified national commitment to environmental sustainability. Notable participating organizations included WaterAid, ActionAid, Muslim Aid, CARE, Muslim Hands, VSO, BRAC, Islamic Relief, German Red Cross, PKSF, Start Bangladesh Hub, GAIN, EDUCO, HEKS, ACTED, ACF, CBF, IFRC, SOS, along with about 70 country managers and senior officials.

We are proud to share that Dr. Md. Shahid Uz Zaman, Founder & Executive Director of ESDO, actively contributed to the discussion, offering visionary leadership and valuable insights to strengthen collaborative efforts for a sustainable future. 🌳

“দেখা হয় নাই চক্ষু মেলিয়া…”—এই স্লোগানকে ধারণ করে শুরু হলো ইএসডিওর বিশেষ ইকো ট্যুরিজম উদ্যোগ।
বাংলাদেশের অপূর্ব সৌন্দর্যের লীলাভূমি উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের সমতলের চা বাগান, আদিবাসীদের বৈচিত্র্যময় সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য, কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘার মনোমুগ্ধকর দৃশ্য, টিউলিপ বাগান এবং বিভিন্ন ঐতিহাসিক, ধর্মীয় ও ঐতিহ্যবাহী স্থাপনা ভ্রমণের সকল সুবিধা নিয়ে এই যাত্রা।

Swiss Embassy এবং Enfants du Monde (EdM)–এর সহায়তায় ESDO বাস্তবায়িত ‘Reducing climate change induced health hazards of pregnant women children and adolescent girls (REACH)’ প্রকল্পের আওতায় সাতক্ষীরা জেলার আশাশুনি উপজেলায় দুইটি ইকো-ফ্রেন্ডলি মোবাইল এম্বুল্যান্স আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে। ইলেকট্রিক ও সোলার চার্জিং সুবিধাসম্পন্ন এসব এম্বুল্যান্সে রয়েছে অক্সিজেন সিলিন্ডার, স্ট্রেচার, পেশেন্ট বেড ও প্রয়োজনীয় জরুরি সরঞ্জাম। ১লা মার্চ, ২০২৬ বেলা ১২টায় আশাশুনি উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্স প্রাঙ্গণে মোবাইল এম্বুল্যান্স হস্তান্তর অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার জনাব মো: সাইদুজ্জামান হিমু। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপজেলা হেলথ অ্যান্ড ফ্যামিলি প্ল্যানিং অফিসার ডা. নিতীশ চন্দ্র গোলদার, উপজেলা ফ্যামিলি প্ল্যানিং অফিসার আব্দুস সেলিম, আরএমও ডা. প্রসূণ কুমার মন্ডল, সামসুল হক মৃধা, সিনিয়র এপিসি, ইএসডিও। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন ইডিএম-এর কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর শামীমা আক্তার শিমুল। এছাড়াও স্থানীয় জনপ্রতিনিধি, ইএসডিও রিচ প্রকল্প টিম, মোবাইল এম্বুল্যান্স কমিটির সদস্য এবং গণমাধ্যম প্রতিনিধিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
