ESDO Honored as Best NGO in Asashuni for Advancing Climate-Resilient Maternal and Child Healthcare

ESDO has been selected as the best NGO in Asashuni Upazila in recognition of its unique contribution to mitigating climate-related risks to maternal and child health. In recognition of its outstanding contribution to mitigating climate change-related risks to maternal and child health in Asashuni Upazila of Satkhira district, ESDO has been awarded as the best NGO.
ESDO has been playing a significant role in enhancing public health, climate resilience and community capacity in Asashuni Upazila for a long time under the CALL Program and REACH Project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and EDM.
Notable activities under the project include—
Provision of 3 fully solar-powered mobile ambulances.
Renovation of 9 community clinics.
Renovation of 2 Union Health and Family Welfare Centers.
Establishment of Operation Theatre (OT) rooms and provision of about 40 types of surgical equipment.
Provision of necessary training and equipment to health department officials and staff.
Providing training to about 1,500 young men and women in pedagogical methods and developing them as volunteers.
Providing necessary medical equipment including ECG machines in the Upazila Health Complex.
Ensuring availability of safe water for patients and their caregivers.
Installation of 6 Pond Sand Filters (PSF), 6 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants and 2 safe water ponds.
Formulation of 11 training manuals on climate and health, which were previously absent at the government level. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the concerned ministry to disseminate these manuals at the national level.
Playing a leading role in conducting a massive public awareness campaign to prevent and combat measles.
This multifaceted initiative of ESDO has made a significant contribution to making the health system of Asashuni Upazila more climate tolerant, modern and people-oriented. In recognition of this outstanding work, the organization has been honored as the best NGO!

Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman Represents ESDO at PKSF–Channel i Talk Show on Youth Skills and Employment

On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day 2026, ESDO Founder and Executive Director Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman participated in the special talk show “Youth Skills Development and Employment” jointly organized by PKSF and Channel i.
PKSF Deputy Managing Director Md. Moshiar Rahman, Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar and prominent representatives of government, private and development organizations were also present at the event.
The discussion resulted in a fruitful exchange of views on youth skills development, employment generation, entrepreneurship development and the important role of youth in the sustainable development of the country.
ESDO believes that a skilled, innovative and self-reliant youth is the foundation of a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable Bangladesh.

ESDO Honored as Best NGO at Upazila Level on World Population Day 2026 for Excellence in Maternal and Child Healthcare

On the occasion of World Population Day 2026, ESDO received the award for the best non-governmental development organization at the upazila level.
In recognition of its commendable contribution to adolescent reproductive health, maternal and child health care activities on the occasion of World Population Day 2026, the Upazila Family Planning Department has awarded Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) as the best non-governmental development organization (CBD and Clinic) at the upazila level.
On this occasion, the crest and certificate of honor were presented to the representatives of ESDO. This recognition is an important recognition of ESDO’s long-standing continuous contribution, public-private initiatives and public-private partnerships in the development of adolescent-friendly healthcare, family planning, safe motherhood and maternal and child health.
This achievement is the result of the combined efforts of ESDO’s development partner Plan International Bangladesh, dedicated officers and employees, volunteers, community representatives, government partners and beneficiaries.
ESDO believes that a healthy, safe and prosperous society can be built through collective efforts. In the future, the organization will continue to work tirelessly to improve public health, family planning and maternal and child healthcare in coordination with all stakeholders.

ESDO’s Microfinance Program Annual Operation Planning Meeting (FY 2026–2027) held-
On 11 July 2026, the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO)’s Microfinance Program Annual Operation Planning Meeting (FY 2026–2027) was successfully held at Joynal Abedin Auditorium, ESDO Head Office, Gobindanagar, Thakurgaon.
The event was presided over by ESDO Founder and Executive Director Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman Sir. Director (Administration) and Principal of Eco Pathshala and College Dr. Selima Akhtar Madam and Team Leader, Youth Engagement and ICT and Executive Director, ESDF Mr. Shaswat Zaman were present as special guests. In addition, senior officials of ESDO’s microfinance program, regional managers, zonal managers and area managers participated in the meeting.
In addition to reviewing past activities, achievements and overall performance, detailed discussions and guidance were provided on KPI-based operation planning, development of monitoring and reporting systems, compliance assurance, human resource development, training planning, digital management and strategic action plan for the next fiscal year.
The speakers emphasized on implementing technology-based, good governance and sustainable microfinance activities through discipline, integrity, accountability and collective efforts. At the same time, they expressed their determination to work together to improve the quality of member services, increase institutional capacity and ensure more effective services at the field level.

On 10 July 2026, the award ceremony and successful closing ceremony of the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) Microfinance Program “Operation Durbar” was successfully held at the Joynal Abedin Auditorium, ESDO Head Office, Gobindanagar, Thakurgaon.
The program was presided over by Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman Sir, Founder and Executive Director of ESDO. Dr. Selima Akhtar Madam, Director (Administration) and Principal of Eco Pathshala and College, Team Leader, Youth Engagement and ICT and Executive Director, ESDF Mr. Shaswat Zaman, and Mr. Parimal Sarkar, Joint Secretary, Local Government Division, Urban Development Division, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka were present as special guests. Senior officials of ESDO Microfinance Program were also present at the event.
In recognition of their outstanding contribution to Operation Durbar-2026, awards were given to the Best Field Officer, Best Branch, Best Area, Best Zone, Best Project and all the development workers involved in Operation Durbar.
The speakers at the event expressed their determination to make ESDO’s microfinance program more dynamic and sustainable through discipline, honesty, teamwork and improving the quality of customer service. At the same time, they expressed their sincere congratulations and best wishes to all the officers and development workers concerned on the successful completion of Operation Durbar.

PKSF SMART Project – Achievement Award 2026

ESDO has proudly won the “Achievement Award 2026” based on the progress assessment of the project implementation in the fiscal year 2025-2026 under the “Environmentally Friendly Construction Materials” sub-sector of the “Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART)” project implemented by Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) with financial support from the World Bank and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
This prestigious achievement has been possible due to the visionary leadership and overall guidance of the Honorable Founder Executive Director of ESDO, Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman, Capstone Fellow (NDC) Sir and the sincere cooperation of Director (Administration) Dr. Selima Akhtar Madam.
In addition, the combined efforts, dedication and cooperation of the project focal person, project related officers and employees, microfinance team and all stakeholders have played an important role in achieving this success.

The Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MP, visited the ESDO Training Center.
Today, on 4 July 2026, the Honorable Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MP, visited the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) Training Center located in Lalmonirhat District.
During the inspection, he was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Lalmonirhat District, Mr. Muhammad Rashedul Haque Pradhan, Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman and District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque.
The guests visited the ongoing skill development training programs on Plumbing and Pipe Fittings, Automechanics and Electrical Installation and Maintenance conducted under the SICIP project in collaboration with PKSF. They expressed satisfaction with the participation of the trainees, the quality of the training and the skill development activities.
Later, the Founder and Executive Director of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman gave a detailed briefing to the guests about the overall activities, achievements and various development initiatives of the organization. At the time, the guests appreciated the multifaceted development activities of ESDO and expressed hope that the ongoing initiatives of the organization will play an important role in the sustainable development of the country and the formation of skilled human resources. Director General of NGO Affairs Bureau visits ESDO-ESR Chattogram Project
On 29 June 2026, Director General (Secretary) of NGO Affairs Bureau under the Office of the Principal Advisor (PMO) Dr. Mohammad Zakaria visited the Employability Skills for Resilience (ESR) Project implemented by ESDO.
At that time, he was accompanied by Private Secretary (Senior Assistant Secretary) Mr. Sharif Ahmed, Administrative Officer of NGO Affairs Bureau and Administrative Officer (Acting) Mr. Bahadur Raisur Rahman.
On behalf of Save the Children in Bangladesh, Deputy Country Director Mr. Rahmat Ullah and Sector Lead (YCPER) Nishat Afroz Mirza were present. On behalf of ESDO senior management, Head of Planning Mr. Mashiur Rahman was present.
During the visit, the delegation visited the ongoing Mobile Training Centre (MTC) activities of ESDO-ESR Chattogram Project. They also visited the Entrepreneurship Hub/Sales Corner and Freelancing Zone and exchanged views with the trainees.
The delegation appreciated the initiatives to develop employment-oriented skills of the youth, create entrepreneurship, Green Skills and increase livelihood capacity through the project.
ESDO and Save the Children are working jointly to make the youth of the country more skilled, self-reliant and capable of facing future challenges through skill development and sustainable employment.

ESDO Holds Annual General Meeting 2026 to Strengthen Governance and Advance Sustainable Development

ESDO Annual General Meeting-2026 held –
On 26 June 2026, the Annual General Meeting-2026 of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) was held at the Seminar Hall of ESDO Head Office located at Gobindanagar, Thakurgaon District.
The meeting was attended by the esteemed members of the General Assembly of ESDO. Present at the meeting were Mr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Mr. Md. Mozammel Haque, Dr. Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman, Mr. Sereja Banu, Mr. Suraiya Akhtar, Dr. Selima Akhtar, Mr. Rokeya Sultana, Mr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Mr. Md. Mahabubul Islam, Mr. Shamima Akhtar, Mr. Md. Saker Ullah, Advocate Masuda Parveen, Advocate Abdul Halim, Mr. Md. Manjurul Islam, Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Mr. Md. Ichar Ali, Md. Jahan-Ara Begum, Md. Momtaz Parveen, Md. Afrina Nasrin, Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Mr. Jayanta Kumar Basu and Mr. Pratibha Roy Dola. In addition, the senior management team of ESDO presented the annual activities and progress reports of their respective units. The decisions taken at the annual general meeting will play an important role in increasing the institutional capacity of ESDO in the coming fiscal year, ensuring good governance, maintaining financial transparency and making sustainable development activities more dynamic and effective.

In his presentation, he outlined a far-reaching plan to develop Thakurgaon as a Green, Smart, Climate-Resilient and Inclusive City for the next 50 years. It presents an integrated outline of eco-friendly infrastructure, renewable energy, modern urban management, climate resilience, water conservation, sustainable communication system, agro-based industrialization, employment, education, health, culture and citizen participation-based development. He mentioned that “A successful master plan is not just a plan to construct buildings or roads; it is a long-term commitment to improve the quality of life of people, preserve the environment and build a livable, sustainable and prosperous city for the coming generations.” The Thakurgaon Municipal Administrator, senior officials of the municipality, and high-ranking officials of various government departments of Thakurgaon district were present at the meeting
